Es gibt sie in Schwarz, in Grau und vor allem in allen möglichen, von der Sonne gefärbten Brauntönen. Ein paar wenige Schwarz-Weiße sind auch dabei. Manche glänzen, andere sind ganz weich, die einen sind geschoren, die anderen wuschelig. Bei dem einen sind alle Haare glatt, bei dem dort drüben sind sie lockig. Hier könnt ihr euch selbst davon überzeugen.
Eines haben sie alle gemeinsam: Es sind die Felle der Tiere, die bei uns gelebt haben. From nose to tail: möglichst alles an einem Tier soll verwertet werden, aus ökologischer Überzeugung, aber auch, wie soll ich sagen, aus Achtung vor dem Tier. Wenn wir es schon töten, dann für alles, was es zu bieten hat. Wir essen und verkaufen nicht nur das Fleisch unserer Lämmer, wir salzen auch die abgezogenen Felle ein und schicken sie in eine Bio-Gerberei in Tirol. Von dort kommen sie ein paar Monate später – Gerben ist ein langwieriger Prozess – zurück, so unterschiedlich wie oben beschrieben.
Lammfelle sind temperaturausgleichend, wasserabweisend und hübsch anzusehen. Wofür unsere Felle bisher schon eingesetzt wurden:
Lammfelle lassen sich nach alter Bäuerinnenweisheit am besten reinigen, indem man sie mit der Fellseite in den Neuschnee legt und dann trocknen lässt. Ansonsten regelmäßig lüften und bei Bedarf sehr vorsichtig ausklopfen oder bürsten. Manche haben das Lammfell auch schon im Schonwaschgang in die Maschine gegeben und waren zufrieden, wir übernehmen aber keine Garantie für das Ergebnis! Bei starker Verschmutzung ist natürlich eine Reinigung in der Putzerei möglich, und nach ein paar Jahren kann das Fell auch wieder in die Gerberei gesendet werden und wird dort wie neu hergerichtet.
